Spring has come on the sly, coming from the windows, blooming in the gardens, by moving the clocks..
We wanted to honor it as we did with the other seasons with a meeting dedicated to its discovery by the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine and its applications in both the movement, with the Do-In ie the Stretching of the meridians, but also in power through the knowledge of Macrobiotic.
How would we ever made accompanied by Silvia Giordani and Boris Trentin in this exploration, but given the situation we asked them to give us a small grant to share.

Here is what Boris Trentin: a reading of the second Spring “theory 5 transformations” with some guidance on how to stimulate the energy connected to the season.
Silvia Giordani's can be found on his blog at this link.

SPRING

It's spring, season that the MTC combines all’ Wood element or Tree, term that evokes a mental image that best conveys the energy characteristics. We are indeed in a period of rebirth and growth, the energy is predominantly Yin (centrifuge, expansive), from the center of the planet to the universe, from the ground to the sky, from seed to sprout. La componente Yang (remember that in Tao the dualism between the forces expected to be equal and opposite, but also that each of the other features if present in) It is associated with tree roots.

The 5 ELEMENTS

In theory 5 elements, or rather of 5 transformations, the timber is connected to the other elements via the feeding cycle and the control cycle. In the first case it comes after the water on which it feeds and precedes the fire for which is the combustile. In the second case it precedes the earth element (we think that the roots growing shroud the land, preventing mudslides or landslides) and follows the metal element (for example, the saw or the ax that cut the trunk, the carpenter's tools that shape the form).

FEATURES

The wood element, in equilibrium condition, presents the qualities of strength, the determination and flexibility. The blade of grass grows, adapting to the space that is, but if it does not find it is able to pierce the concrete, slow but inexorable.
The atmospheric event is the strong winds typical of spring.
The taste is associated with the vinegar, the sense is the view, The color is green.
Organ and bowels are, respectively, liver and biliary vesicle (gallbladder)
Positive feelings are selflessness and patience, negative rage and anger (a little curiosity: among the sayings of our common talk, that it does not rely absolutely on TCM concepts, We are "ruining the liver by anger" and "become green with envy")

MERIDIANI

The pair of meridians wood element is formed by Liver (meridiano Yin per organo Yang) and Gall Bladder (Yin Yang meridian for bowels)
Together they govern eye condition, muscles, tendons and joints. When, For example,, we see a rigid person and say "looks like a piece of wood" we are actually describing a bad condition tendons and joints, then a right in the element wood imbalance.

VITAL FUNCTIONS

Liver and Gall Bladder respectively perform the function of storage and distribution.
The role of the liver is to store vital resources useful, It is indeed a very important subject of blood, and decompose harmful substances. Even from a not purely physical point of view. Store our ideas and is closely related to our creativity.
In Chinese culture it defines the army general engineering strategy, while the gallbladder is the officer who makes decisions, while performing the will of the general. The gall bladder governs the functioning of the thyroid, the balance of nutrients and digestive enzymes, in the Eastern view of the bile it is directly related to my ability to decide.
This pair of meridians is responsible for giving direction to my life, for this view and are connected to their path in the body it is lateral: I have to see where to go and I have to be able to go by this or the other side.

PATH

According to the classic maps of both TCM meridians develop most of their path in the legs. Liver dall'alluce salt (meridiano Yin) for the inner side of the leg following the flat side of the tibia bone, at the knee passes under the internal lateral meniscus, passes under the adductor magnus and goes deep inside the leg (in males governs the reproductive system). Gall Bladder from the sides of the body descends (The meridiano) and follows the outer edge of the medial leg, for instance the red line in the uniform of the police, at the ankle moves slightly from the front and connects to the fourth toe.

DO-IN and strains

First we dissolve the ankle joints, the knees and hips with the rotations in both directions, beginning with slight movements and making them wider in a gradual manner.
We practice the Do-in climbing dall'alluce inside thigh and down on the outer side of the leg. Start gently tapping with the fingertips and I end with the decisive blows with his knuckles.
The strains are useful all those who go to stretch the sides of the body, It start with very mild movements and ends with the maximum extension possible. In particular to relax and cleanse the liver is useful movement accordion, where the liver is compressed and stretched alternately.
