In short, the Asvattha Association will host at its headquarters the group Dharmayogakaruna. Founded by Charles Donini and Caroline McAuley and under the blessing of the Tibetan lama Ringu Tulku Rinpoche, the Group has as purpose the study and practice of Buddha-Dharma and of theAshtanga Yoga of Patanjali. The activities provide a practical approach to the Dharma and to Yoga suited to modern society without altering their traditional spirit. A culture of peace, the development of awareness and compassion are key objectives of the Group. These goals are really possible thanks to the work of transformation is accomplished with a genuine practice Yoga and purifying the mind with meditation.
All techniques will be taught in the traditional way, as well as transmitted by masters of Karma-Kagyu Tibetan lineage and from the masters of the Theravada tradition.
The main meditation practices taught are:
  • Or Shamata-Vipassana: with this meditation we learn gradually to be aware of our mental activities, not to be overwhelmed by emotions and purifying therefore the mind from the real enemies of our serenity. This awareness will bring a deep peace of mind.
  • Put-Karuna: meditation of Metta-Karuna (love and compassion) It is useful to open their hearts and minds to the primordial wisdom and treat emotional weaknesses respect ourselves and others.
  • Tonglen: with Tonglen meditation (give and take) We learn to deal with fear and suffering, that our and around us, wherever we are and anyone.
  • Practice of Deva Avalokitesvara: with this technique we come into contact with our compassion and awaken to the flowering of its transforming energy, Thus learning to have compassion for ourselves and others. The development of compassion is the door to liberation.
  • Meditation Therapy: includes techniques to induce deep relaxation especially for those who live intense emotional conflicts and the difficulty of relating with others and with your emotions.

The purpose of meditation and yoga in General is to operate a progressive transformation of our usual tendencies or mental attitudes, so hard to eradicate, which are the root cause of our hardships and sufferings. Such a transformation will lead to awaken the qualities that are always present in us, but still too dormant, of love, compassion and wisdom. By applying the techniques of meditation, We will learn to relax deeply.
