II. PRACTICING THE TEXT IN FOUR Sutra – Silvia Patrick – schedule 10-13

➥ Sunday 26 January, 16 February, 8 March and 10 may

The Yogasūtra of Patañjali I have a technical text, complex for those who are immersed in different forms of textual practices. But their occurrence seemingly enigmatic and obscure, that does not mean that such urgency seems to spring from any white space, together they make up the charm and the challenge that the text put to the modern reader, first at a yoga 'practitioner'.
Yogasūtra, In fact, It is not a text of 'Indian philosophy', if philosophy is intended to only theoretical speculation, but a real practo-gnosis, a path of practice and knowledge. In this sense the practice (abhyāsa) yoga involves not only the body but also the study and meditation on the texts and requires a willingness to be shaped by the word in the same way that you let us patiently modeled by a asana.
For the reader-practitioner, therefore, each pada, "More than a chapter to remember, It is an exercise to practice " (Investment).

Why darsana?
Everything starts with the search for a title for the path of introduction to the philosophies of India we had planned for 2018-19 and meeting with the cover photo, which is hanging in our house, a photo that Alberto made many years ago during a reportage in Varanasi.
We thought we could give back the idea of multiplicity, of opening: a man wrapped in a dhoti shelling a the edge sitting on the ghat a Varanasi, wearing sunglasses. We do not know exactly what she's looking, we can only imagine.
We like the idea that the word darśana [1], often it interpreted precisely with the term "philosophy", It would be translated as closely referring to the etymology of the word matrix (drs – see): would be more appropriate, therefore, to speak of "perspective", "Viewing angle", "perspective (on the existing)”, referring, then, more clearly to an "understanding" visual perspectives of the many wide open about the reality (only) [2].
What better way for the path we had in mind?!?
